Happy & Healed

Hello! Is Anybody Out There? Lol.

Gosh! It’s been several years since I posted a blog.

During my divorce (my second, yikes!), my lawyer advised me to step away from blogging. I dabbled in several things since then. Here’s all the amazing things that I did while I stepped away from my blogging.

  • Took Coding Bootcamp At NPower And Learned To Create Websites
  • Took An Entrepreneurship Course At Goodwill Leadership Academy
  • I Became A Published Co-Author Of A Book: BOSS LATINAS, AN ANTHOLOGY
  • I Started My Own Lingerie Boutique Business
  • I Won A 10K Business Grant With My First Written Business Plan From Texas Women’s University
  • I Competed In A Business Pitch Competition And Got 3rd Place & $1,000 For My Business
  • I Met Some Amazing Students At Trimble Tech & Was A Classroom Speaker
  • I Invested Stimmy Money Into Sewing Machine Equipment & Taught Myself To Sew During Quarantine Using YouTube Videos & More
  • I Participated In Project Goodwill, A Community Fashion Runway Showcasing Sustainable Designers. I Made New Friends, Met A Celebrity, And Got Selected To Showcase My Design On The News

Some other things that I did, that are more personal and important to me only:

I learned how to cook tamales, birria tacos, barbacoa, and bunuelos.

I became a Homemaker and Dressmaker, and even started a Sewing & Dressmaking Course.

I poured into my children. I helped them heal as well as myself from the traumas we endured in the past. Both with therapy and after.

I have so many goals and plans for my future. I know that GOD has nothing but GREAT things for me and my children. I’m not idly sitting on the sidelines. I’m just behind the scenes. For Now! And I’m excited to be starting NEW THINGS!!!

I can’t wait to share with ya’ll all the AMAZING NEW THINGS, GOD IS DOING IN MY LIFE!!!

Yours Truly,

The nature of my content here at Candid Chicana Blog will also be shifting. I will continue to blog on this original wordpress platform as Candid Chicana. But I have slightly altered my three main topics from Chicano Culture, Spiritual Growth, Self-Development to, Chicano Culture, Creativity, and Commerce. I have evolved both personally and professionally and so I feel that is the direction I want to take my blog in.

I want to personally thank Texas Women’s University and the Center For Women Entrepreneur’s. TWU awarded $250,000 in grant funds to Texas Women Veteran Entrepreneur’s. And I was blessed to be selected as one of the 27 recipients, for a $10,000 business grant to help fund my startup – lingerie boutique.

I am so thankful that ya’ll (TWU CWE) believed in me, in my dream, and my business plan. I appreciate how ya’ll also provided a business advisor. Justina Shaw – THANK YOU gorgeous lady! You helped me crunch the numbers and get the financial part of my business plan just right. I couldn’t have done it without you. And to all of the mentors at TWU CWE. I am eternally grateful for all of the support, mentorship, and webinars.

Both of my young adult daughters have joined me in this new business venture.

Destiny Ane Statam will serve as the Chief Financial Officer of La Loba Lingerie. Destiny will be getting her certifications in Bookkeeping, and Accounting at the Goodwill Leadership Academy. The accounting cert also comes with a transferable college credit.

Faith Raquel Statam will serve as the Brand Spokeswoman for La Loba Lingerie. Faith has experience in dance and modeling. She will facilitate the events, recruit plus size models for fashion shows, and be the public figure for the La Loba Lingerie brand.

I, Deanna Guadalupe Montalvo, am working on obtaining my certification in Entrepreneurship/Small Business through the Goodwill Leadership Academy. I will be taking the ESB exam after completing 150 hours of study. The entrepreneurship cert comes with a transferable college credit.

We will be hosting our first LINGERIE LIVE SALE via Facebook Live on Aug 28 at 7p.m. If this is something that interests you, please join us! Click the link below to access the event. And please share this post. Thank you.

My sons school is participating in a Valentine Project to see if they can get a Valentine from all around the USA and around the globe. If anyone is interested in sending a Valentine from their state or another country to these elementary students, it would be really awesome. If you decide to send a Valentine…..make sure to note that you heard about the project via Candid Chicana’s Blog! AKA TRAVIS AND JOSE CHILDS’ MOM! Don’t forget to comment below if you participate so that I can know all the cool places you lovely readers will be writing from.
